Research & Development Cell
In order to create research environment in the college, the research and development cell was established with the following objectives:
- To create and promote a culture of research among the faculty
- To inculcate research skills and to develop interest and awareness about research among the students and faculty
- To organize various workshops/ seminars/ training programmes related to promotion of research
- To keep track and record of publications made by the faculty
- To encourage and facilitate the publication of the research work/projects in reputed academic journals
- To create awareness about patents and intellectual property rights

TNSCST grant received by faculty
- Dr. S. Mala, Head of the Department of Zoology received a grant of Rs. 50,000/- from the Tamil Nadu State Council of Science and Technology (TNSCST) to organize a workshop titled “Training Progrmme on Mushroom and Vermi Technology for Women Self – Help Groups” on 25.8.2010 and 26.8.2010.
- Dr. P. Kumutha, Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology received a grant of Rs. 50,000/- from the Tamil Nadu State Council of Science and Technology (TNSCST) to organize a workshop on “ Moriculture, Sericulture technology and methods of using sericulture waste in preparing compost” to Women Self – Help Groups under the scheme of Dissemination of Innovative Technology (DIT) for three days from 12.3.2014 to 14.3.2014.
Completed student research projects
- Two student research projects were completed by the Physics Department under Students’ Project Scheme by getting a fund of Rs. 10,000/- from the Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) in the academic years 2005 – 2006 and 2009 – 2010. The details are given below:
- In the year 2005 – 2006, Ms. A. Suba of II M.Sc. Physics completed her project under the topic “Synthesis and Characterization of carbon nanotubes” under the guidance of Ms. A. Sudha, Assistant Professor of Physics.
- In the year 2009 – 2010, C. Kalaivani of II M.Sc. Physics completed her project under the topic “Growth and Studies of L-Proline Lithium Chloride and L-Proline Potassium Chloride Crystals” under the guidance of Mrs. V. Vasantha Kumari, Associate Professor of Physics.
