About Us

Aditanar College of Arts and Science was established in the year 1965 by Sri. Si.Pa.Aditanar. It is located in Virapandiapatnam village of Tiruchendur Taluk in Thoothukudi District of TamilNadu on the sea shore between Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari.
The founder Sri.Si.Pa.Aditanar, a native of Kayamozhi Village, wanted to serve his place of birth. After establishing Daily Thanthi, a renowned Tamil newspaper, he formed a trust called “Aditanar Educational Institution“ (A.E.I). As the first project, he established Aditanar college of Arts and Science with the sole aim of providing higher educational opportunities for the youth of this area.
His son, Padmashri Dr.B.Sivanthi Adityan has been the Founder President of the college committee since its inception. The college had been affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai from 1965 to 1990. The college has been affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli since 1990.

Mission

Our Mission is to create a hub of excellence for the advancement of nursing science by providing accessible, high quality undergraduate and post graduate nursing education to diverse student population in the student-centered learning environments that utilize technological innovation and promote critical thinking for the development of nurse leaders at all levels of practice.

Objectives

To impart quality education in Nursing to both boys and girls
To render comprehensive health care in hospitals, homes and communities
To make the student self-reliant, patriotic and enlightened citizen
To provide cognitive, affective and psychomotor instruction necessary for students to become safe and caring practitioners
To provide learning opportunities that include clients of all age groups at varying points on the health-illness continuum
To provide an educational program through which the graduates will be prepared to assume responsibility as professional nurses
To make the graduates capable of teaching and supervising appropriate nursing and health care in different settings and participate in the administration of nursing service and education
To prepare well qualified entry level nurses, nurse’s educators, advanced practice nurses, nurse leaders and nurse scientists
To provide advance nursing science through engagement in research and clinical scholarship
To engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary partnerships that improve the health care provided in rural under-served communities
